THE AFTERMATH

Founded in 2018 right after Hong Kong being hit by one of the most intense typhoons Mangkhut. Our company aims to give a second life to those 55,000 wrecked trees (or more).

FOUNDER

Dickson Yan – PhD in Environmental Engineering

Born and educated in Hong Kong, he was an educator and a researcher in several universities, and he is now a carpenter, a designer and a dreamer. The Wasted was conceived in 2018 in pursuit of his passion for wood upcycling and artistic creation. After learning the story and intrinsic features of fallen trees, he spent over a year in search of innovative techniques to unveil the beauty of wood. After over 100 times trial and error processes, the first artistic handcrafted epoxy-wooden table was born.
